2025 Changes to the Rules

WGSF released the rules for the 2025 season. The changes to the rules are highlighted in yellow. Several minor clarifications were added with several big changes, safety and tie breakers.

For Downhill Skateboarders, level 1, or better, back protectors WILL be required for all decents. In addition, level 1, or better knee pads will also be required. These protective measures can be worn under the protective clothing, over the protective clothing, or integrated with the protective clothing. WGSF will prevent competitors from competing without these new protective measures.

WGSF will try to do registration and saftey inspection at mandatory meetings the evening before the event. Rule 4.3.4 has a minimum thickness of leathers. While this rule has been in the rulebook since day 1, it has never been enforced. WGSF will be taking measurements of suits this year during technical inspection. These measurements will be for data collection only, to look at changing the rule for 2026, as well as enforcing it. It won’t be enforced in 2025, unless it is obvious the leather suit won’t be protective.
Another other major rule addition was to formally publize the tie breaker rules. These tie breakers rules are solely for end of season rankings. All tie breakers will only look at the results that are used for the final ranking. The first tie breakers will be head to head results. One of the next tie breakers will look at the competitor who faced the most comeptitors. This puts a premium on events that have a larger competitor field.
Finally, all CT riders will be required to past serveral posts to social media for each event they attend. QS riders are also encouraged to do so. A larger social media presense will increase the likeliehood of attracting a large sponsor which will lead to bigger and better events and prize money.
Required number of events will be released soon. In the meantime skim through the rules and checkout the other minor changes.

“Level 1 or better back protectors and kneed pads will be required for Downhill Skateboarders.”
